An Introduction to Trusteeship

a short training course aimed at helping newer Trustees to properly understand their roles and responsibilities

VANEL continues to champion effective governance for charities and community groups, so we provide a number cost effective courses to help you to proactively support your own trustees.

This course

This training session is aimed at new charity Trustees (or those needing a refresher). It’s for charity trustees rather than simply committee members.  The session will cover all the basics that you need to know:  your role, your responsibilities, what legal issues do you need to consider, how you should behave, what skills or approaches do you need.  We’ll demystify trusteeship and all the terminology so that you’re able to concentrate on your role supporting your charity.

We will cover

Amongst other things, we’ll be looking at:
– the basic terminology and definitions around the Trustee and Governance role
– trusteeship as an opportunity and a responsibility
– the legal trustee
– the principled trustee
– the well behaved trustee
– the skilled trustee
– the effective trustee
– the well supported trustee
– the valued trustee

If you’re unfamiliar with your role, or would like a refresher, then this is a straightforward opportunity to find out more.

Practicalities

Dates and venues vary, but most sessions are held at VANEL offices at the Willows, 23 Bargate, Grimsby.

Space is limited for each course, so please book early.  We may also restrict attendance to 2 attendees per organisation.  However, at your request, there is also an option for us to run each course specifically for a single organisation/board at a convenient time or venue.
