“Clee Clubs” is a Lottery funded (Awards for All) programme being delivered by VANEL during 2021-22.
Our objectives for Clee Clubs
We would like to help people in Cleethorpes to set up and run their own activity groups.
During lockdown we identified a gap in the community for new group activities led by residents who felt left out of social action where they live. Cleethorpes people, especially in the 25 to 50 year old age group will benefit greatly from Clee Clubs.
We understand these people often have young families and are often juggling part-time jobs, busy lifestyles, child care and looking after aging parents/grandparents/other family members so lack time and energy to attend social clubs.
During lockdown more people found out about how our community groups helped others. So, we are encouraging residents to promote the clubs by word-of-mouth and suggest their own ideas for new groups too.
We will promote the groups people have asked for so far via our own contacts and networks; social media; websites; newsletters; and community TV. We plan to learn from participants as each group will set up and operate differently. This is something new and quite creative as we believe that the 25-50 age group are often overlooked by funders. However, we will not turn anyone away who lives in Cleethorpes.
Anyone aged over 18 can join our clubs for socialising and sharing their skills and knowledge with each other.
Keep an eye on our social media channels for the latest on which clubs are recruiting or up and running.
In general our clubs will be taking place in the community workshop – “Brocklebank Hall” – at the rear of our offices, 82 Grimsby Road, Cleethorpes.
