IGNITE event to celebrate International Women’s Day was a great success.

IGNITE would like to thank everyone who attended and supported our event to celebrate International Women’s Day on Friday 8 March at the Town Hall in Grimsby. In total, over 160 visitors attended the event where they were met by 26 local organisations who exhibited and represented opportunities for women within their organisations.

Diversity was the name of the game with stalls including representatives from the Ministry of Defence, Stagecoach, Scouting, Pepperils, Yorkshire Bank, ABP, the Fire Service and many many more. Throughout the day, visitors had the chance to observe art created by Grimsby Institute students, the Grimbarians and Vibrant Me Artists.

The day was supported by the fantastic and inspiring performers from Zebedee and the wonderful Amy Naylor who entertained all with songs and music using a handpan.

Special visitors included the lovely Madam Mayor, Councillor Hazel Chase who opened the event on our behalf. Thanks also to the local MP Melanie Onn who took the time between engagements to drop in.

We would also like to take the opportunity to thank the eight Inspirational speakers who took to the stage to share their journeys and experiences through the voyage which is life.

The day would not have been possible without the support of the Anglian Water: Keep it Clear.

If you’d like to follow up on the day, please feel free to contact the IGNITE team at VANEL (01472 315437, ignite@vanel.org.uk).
