VANEL AGM and Pumpkin Party recap
On 19th October 2023 VANEL held our Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Pumpkin Party at the Canopy Community Hub in East Marsh.
A big thanks to all those who attended, both Member organisations, other organisations and individuals. And thank you to Michelle and her team at Canopy Community Hub for hosting us.
The Pumpkin Party was run by Sam Smith and Lauren Patrick who were demonstrating the great success the Green Influencers programme is having at the moment working with a number of local groups and schools. There was also a chance for some decorating of pumpkins!
And Jen Wakefield from Nurture Nature was providing green and eco focused activities for our younger visitors.
The AGM itself was the more formal part of the event covering the financial year up to April 2023. A couple of points are worth mentioning:
The annual fee for membership has once again remained fixed at £25 per organisation per year (good value at less than 50p per week!)
New Trustees joining the VANEL committee this year are:
Jenny Hodson – previously part of the VANEL staff team and now working for Inland Waterways, but joins us now as an independent.
Fumiko Czarnecki who joins us an independent in memory of our sadly missed lifetime Trustee Marcus.
Thanks as always to all our Trustees for supporting the organisation over the past year.
If you want to see the annual report or financial papers that were circulated to attendees please contact Richard or at VANEL.
Thank you to all who attended and we’ll hopefully see you again long before our next AGM in October 2024.
The venue was very appropriate due to the recent work VANEL has been doing in the East Marsh as part of the (now concluded) Safer Streets East Marsh programme. There’s a retrospective video of Safer Streets that you can view here. And more information about the Canopy Community Hub is on their Facebook page here.
The leftover pumpkins (which had been donated by Morrisons) were passed on to the Canopy Hub after the event for them to use with the children in the Forest School during and after half-term. Pumpkin soup here we come!
