Last week, VANEL’s Youth Leadership Worker Lisa Anderson joined six young people at Manor Farm in East Holton, Lincolnshire for a weekend of learning and self-discovery using horses and the great outdoors. Read on to find out more.
Last week VANEL celebrated the hard work and dedication of VANEL staff and volunteers at our Executive Meeting. The meetings are lead by VANEL’s board of trustees and are an opportunity for the trustees to scrutinise and discuss the day to day running of the organisation. Last week’s meeting took place at West Marsh Community Centre and presented the IGNITE team with an opportunity to present the work they have been doing with young people over the last 12 months.
VANEL’s IGNITE team will be holding a stand at North East Lincolnshire’s largest Skills Fair at Grimsby Auditorium on Thursday 6th July. The team will be promoting volunteering and explaining to the young people the fair is aimed at how they can use becoming a volunteer to their advantage.
VANEL’s IGNITE team work to encourage young people aged 16 – 30 to take the lead on projects, campaigns and events of their own making. If you have an idea for a project which benefits your community and need funding in order to make it happen, contact IGNITE today! IGNITE@vanel.org.uk

On Friday 16th June, HealthWatch NEL held their fourth Annual General Meeting at Grimsby Central Hall. The meeting was open to members of the public and included stalls from organisations providing a range of different services to people across North East Lincolnshire. The deadline for applications for the four Youth Leadership Mentor positions starting this September with VANEL’s IGNITE team is Friday 30th June. Applicants must be going into the third year of the degree course this September. This is a paid position requiring 15 hours per week and is flexible to fit around your studies. VANEL’s Volunteer Managers Network celebrated this year’s National Volunteers Week (1st -7th June) by holding a Volunteer Recruitment Fair in Peoples Park on Friday 2nd June. The event was attended by VANEL Member organisations such as Dementia Awareness, YMCA Humber, and Counting Hope and also served as the launch of VANEL’s latest funding success, ‘The Blue Lights Brigade’.
