Not just for young people. Our V:EXPO event in Grimsby in June is for everyone

The Volunteer Centres throughout Lincolnshire ran a V:EXPO county conference for Volunteer Managers for two years running at the Lincolnshire Showground.  This successful event attracted over 100 delegates each year but costs a large amount of money to organise and needs a good partnership  between volunteer centre staff.  Unfortunately due to funding cuts some local centres have now closed and money to cover the large costs is no longer an option.

We have thus decided this year to use a different format an run three local V:EXPO events. One in Navenby; one in Grantham and one here in Grimsby.

Our Grimsby event as you will see from the poster is themed around youth volunteering – but is not just for young people. The conference will discuss issues around the legalities of youth volunteering, raise awareness of the new GDPR as related to young people, ensuring organisations are on top of the new regulations from as early as possible.

We would like to have youth focused organisations there to spread the word about your work and links to what you can offer to young people and their support organisations as well as organisations who have not traditionally taken on young people as volunteers due to worries concerns and issues of any kind that they feel stops them or restricts them having young people on board.

We have today heard we are lucky enough to have a member of the team from NCVO (National Council for Voluntary Organisations) agree to come to the event as our headline speaker.  We also have Marcus Czarnecki running a couple of organised dialogues and the young people from young advisors/youth Parliament running a workshop around youth campaigning, amongst other workshops.

So there’ plenty going on and by the time the event gets here we expect there to be even more in the programme! Please let me know if you would be interested in the event, booking a stand for the day and or/running a workshop.  Event will be free for those running workshops otherwise it is £5 per session per head.  The event will be run as two separate events within one, so some delegates may attend just the afternoon others just the evening so we will have two opening opportunities.  As we have a youth focus, in order to encourage some younger people to attend we are allowing under 18s to attend free (we can book them on with a specific code). Any young person you may wish to bring along who is 15 or 16 then they must be accompanied by an appropriate paying adult, and all need to be pre booked on the event.

If you would like to attend or even run workshops please let me know and we will book you on the event free, if you wish to come with stand and as delegates please book on through

More information about the event will be available as we get closer, but please chat to us about getting involved.
