VANEL’s Volunteer Centre works with volunteers and prospective volunteers to ensure that they get the best of out of their volunteering experience. Here at the Volunteer Centre at our VANEL office in Grimsby, we pride ourselves on the personalised level of service which we provide. Our Volunteer Adviser, Liz, is on hand to help you find the volunteering opportunity best suited to you. You can book a confidential one-on-one weekday appointment with her at a time that suits you, to discuss the kind of volunteering opportunities that you are interested in, and find one that fits around your lifestyle.
We care about our volunteers and the volunteering organisations that use our service. We are not about filling gaps, we find out why people want to volunteer, how much time they have available, how far they are willing to travel, and what it is that they are passionate about. We find out if they want to volunteer directly with people, or if they would prefer to be in the background, quietly making a difference. We understand that volunteers have work and family commitments, and take these into account when making placement recommendations. We also take into account the financial situation of the people we talk to, and find out whether or not they need a placement where they can have their out of pocket expenses paid for. Not only this, but we can help you find a placement where you can develop your skills and gain relevant qualifications in order to improve your chances of gaining employment or a place at university. And with over 25 years’ of experience as a volunteer centre, we have amassed a wealth of knowledge about the standard of volunteering opportunities that local organisations provide. We can also tell you about the organisations that have an urgent need for volunteers, as well as volunteering opportunities that have just become available
