‘Picnic In The Park’ Sunday 21st August 2016
‘Communities Together’ in partnership with The Culture House and funded by Communities Together’s National Lottery and Awards For All, are proud to present Gary Crosby Band, Tomorrow’s Warriors. You are invited to come along to People’s Park on Sunday 21st August 2016 from 1pm until 3pm, to enjoy the third instalment this month of ‘Picnic In The Park’s’ live music programme.
Internationally acclaimed bassist and one of the UK’s most important band-leaders Gary Crosby will be bringing his phenomenal young band of Tomorrow’s Warriors, to Grimsby for the third event. The band consists of rising stars Mobo award-winner Binker Golding (tenor sax), Shirley Tetteh (guitar), and rhythm master Eddie Hick on drums, with Crosby on double-bass.
In this specially-devised set, this outstanding band will revisits the path to freedom of the US Civil Rights Movement with soulful jazz arrangements of songs from 18th Century slavery through to some of the popular anthemic songs of 20th Century Black America.
Why not pack up a picnic, bring a few chairs and enjoy this free open air programme against the picturesque backdrop of Grimsby’s People’s Park.
Look out for the final ‘Picnic in the Park’ event which will take place on Sunday 28th August from 1pm until 3pm. Seeing out the summer in style, will be Pan Jumby, a band made up of leading northern musicians, offering a unique blend of modern calypso, Caribbean rhythms, rhumba and cha cha, all channelled through high energy jazz.
