New Year: New Gig fundraiser a great success

On Saturday 6th January 2018, IGNITE project leader Jay Jassie hosted the New Year: New Gig fundraiser which showcased local acoustic, punk and rock acts to raise monies for Cuddles Cat Rescue.

Despite a few technical issues that delayed the start for 50 minutes, the night was still a resounding success with £184.64 being raised for the charity.

The night started acoustically with Brad Arliss and Yaz and the Acoustic setting the scene and tone for the night with a mixture of original songs and covers. Following this, the Metal and Punk band ‘Johnny Utah’, followed up with their set that was also well received. The penultimate act of the night was last year’s Battle of the Bands runner up, The Forgotten. Despite numerous band members having the flu and an unfortunate incident involving a snare drum, they still managed to complete their set much to the crowds delight. The final and headlining band of the night was Jay Jassie’s band, Reversing Destiny. Fun Fact! Reversing Destiny was also the act to win last year’s Battle of the Bands Winners! With the final act up on stage, the IGNITE team began the count up the money raised from bucket rattling and ticket charges. A total of £184.64 was raised for Cuddles Cat Rescue.

Speaking after the night, Jay says “It’s was a really great night! It was great to have so many bands and artists show their support and perform for such a great cause!”

Whilst receiving the cheque, Jackie on behalf of Cuddles Cat Rescue stated: “All donations are greatly appreciated, especially at this time of year. We get an influx of older cats around the Christmas period so this money will be going towards their vet and food bills.”

We would like to thank Warren Jolly, James Gilby and the staff at Moon on the Water for their support and to the photographer Wren thru a Lens.
