11th Annual Compass FM Community Awards evening celebrates dedicated people across North East Lincolnshire

Anita Barber, long-time volunteer and co-founder of the West Marsh Community Centre was selected by the COMPASS FM community awards’ sponsors HMT St Hugh’s for their Recognition Award out of all the people nominated at the 11th annual event held at Grimsby Town Hall on Wednesday 8th November 2017. Congratulations from everyone at VANEL to Anita on receiving this award.

The evening itself was a wonderful way to celebrate the hard work of volunteers and other dedicated people from across North East Lincolnshire. The awards each year are a strong reminder of the fantastic things happening in our area.

Awards presented during the evening were:

Fundraiser of the Year – Becky Wright – Her husband died two years ago from pancreatic cancer. Since then she’s raised almost £37,000 for charity. She was shocked at her award.

Team of the Year – Cath & Ken Homewood (Grimsby Food Kitchen)
Volunteer of the Year – Lynn Holmes
Sports Award – Ghetto Park
St Hugh’s Recognition Award – Anita Barber
Compass FM’s Community Star Award – Immingham in Bloom
