Volunteering Opportunities with Friendship at Home
Friendship at home are looking for volunteers aged 16+ to help make a difference to the lives of the older people they support. The organisation works to help combat isolation and loneliness across North East Lincolnshire and to improve the quality of life of older people.
Volunteers pay an integral role to Friendship at Home’s ability to offer vital services that support older people in North East Lincolnshire. You could make a real difference to the quality of an older person’s life by offering a small amount of your time. In doing so you will gain valuable experience and a sense of fulfilment. Volunteers can contribute their time and skills to the provision of the following services:
- One to one befriending: Giving one to one support and friendship to older people who are physically frail or socially isolated, in the comfort of their own home.
- Volunteer drivers: Transport to and from our social clubs is a real issue for some older people who may benefit from a regular visitor.
- Independent Living volunteering: Assisting members with light chores, such as cleaning, food preparation, gardening etc.
- Assisted Shopping: Part of our Independent Living service – our volunteers assist members with their shopping when mobility, transport or confidence is an issue.
- Social Club volunteering: Help at one of our weekly social clubs or assisting on day trips.
- Residential befriending: We offer one-to-one befriending to older people in care homes who may benefit from a regular visitor.
- Fundraising volunteering: Organising events to raise funds for our charity.
- Telephone Befriending: Giving a regular call to someone who may be in need of a friendly ear.
- Becoming a Trustee: Offer your expertise in a relevant field and sit on our Trustee Board. If you are interested in becoming a Trustee please contact us directly.
If you are interested in volunteering with Friendship at Home, make sure to ask yourself the following questions:
