The VANEL Annual General Meeting (AGM) for 2019 will take place at Grimsby Neighbourhood Centre on Thursday 10th October 2019 at 11.30am.

The formal Annual General Meeting begins at 11.30am on 10th October.
After the AGM, at 12noon there will be a light buffet provided and staff and trustees will be on hand for networking and chatting about our various services.
If you’re able to make it to the AGM, please turn up any time after 11am. The AGM at 11.30am is short and you can then stay around for refreshments.

“Better Bid Writing Training”
Full day training session aimed at people writing funding bids or grant applications within the voluntary sector.
when: Monday 28th October 2019
10am start. Arrive & refreshments from 9.30am
finish by 4pm.
where: Big Local North Cleethorpes office, 82 Grimsby Road, Cleethorpes (opposite Tesco Express). Free street parking nearby.
light buffet provided at lunch break.
Places are very limited – booking essential and may be restricted to max 2 people per organisation.
Costs:
Places are £50 per person. £90 for two people from same org.
IF your organisation is based within the North Cleethorpes area (please ask) then Big Local will subsidise each place by £20. Please agree this in advance.
Ideally full payment is due before Friday 25th October. VANEL will invoice. Payment can be via BACS, cheque or cash. Please ask for alternative payment arrangements if necessary.

There are three main sections to the day:
1. context of funding bids
2. practicalities of grant applications
3. writing better bids
In outline:
Context: Setting the context of funding and grants. Where do grants come from? local, regional, national etc. Types of funder and types of grant. where and how to find funders.
Types of funding application process.
Practicalities: the process of applying and how to get this right. coordinating your efforts. avoiding pitfalls. managing your applications.
Better Bids: Pitching your needs. Providing evidence. Building your argument. Budgets and finances. Project management. Outputs, outcomes, milestones and more. Good writing skills.
Wrapping up: tips and advice, Q&A etc
