Governance weekly for 22nd March
The weekly roundup from VANEL on good governance, charity trusteeship and non-profit leadership. News, information, resources and ideas. Complemented by our “aboutgovernance” online discussion space for leaders and trustees and our @aboutgovernance Twitter feed.
The monthly Governance blog article from NCVO is out for March. Read it here. It includes news about the ongoing takeup of the new Charity Governance Code, lessons from a charity merger and some news related to safeguarding. A quick read but worth a look.
GDPR
If you’re sharing this with your board/committee, remind them that they need to be marching on towards compliance with GDPR. 25th May – ‘GDPR Day’ will soon be upon us. So are you on top of GDPR?
Read my original blog article here about GDPR. We’ve put a page of useful resources about GDPR together here. Latest news about GDPR is all tagged on this blog so read them here. And don’t forget I’m running GDPR basics training sessions soon.
Safeguarding
The Charity Commission says safeguarding should be a priority for all charities, not just those working with groups traditionally considered at risk. It comes as the charity regulator publishes a report showing safeguarding concerns are an increasing feature in its regulatory compliance case work with charities.
See here for more information in the Charity Commission’s 5th February press release.
As always, more governance news from next week.
