Sleep Easy is an annual charity event organised by YMCA Humber to raise awareness about the issue of youth homelessness and to raise funds to support young people living in poverty and at risk of homelessness. Members of the public sleep rough for one night – raising funds as they do so.

Across the UK, and locally, homelessness services are experiencing an increase in demand for the support they offer. It has been widely reported that homelessness in England has increased by about a fifth in the last few years. Families are struggling to pay their household fuel bills, rent and mortgages. Many people have lost their jobs, and new employment opportunities are very scarce. These are very difficult times. YMCA Humber and our partners in the area are particularly concerned about prospects for our young people, especially those that have few qualifications and little or no work experience – these are the young people, perhaps, most likely to be living in poverty and at greatest risk of homelessness.

We now need the support of people in Humber Region to make this event a success. This is a great opportunity to make a difference to some disadvantaged young people in the year ahead.

Sleep Easy has been running in the Humber Region since 2011 and has raised over £100,000 in that time with all funds going to YMCA Humber and partner charities to help them in the battle against homelessness.
