North East Lincolnshire CSP Chair, Scott Young, Assistant Chief Constable (temporary) at Humberside Police, said:
Voluntary and community groups play a vital role in crime reduction but often their work goes unnoticed.
This new fund has been set up for their direct benefit and to build on the valuable work they already do.
It will provide opportunities to introduce new crime prevention ideas and design out future crime as well as helping to tackle and reduce criminality.
All suggestions and proposals are welcome to help reduce crime and anti-social behaviour in our communities.
Deputy Chair, Cllr David Bolton, portfolio holder for Safer Communities and Public Protection at North East Lincolnshire Council, added:
The new fund is a great opportunity for voluntary and community groups to build on their work to help local people feel safe and be safe.
Applicants will need to show how their project contributes to the delivery of the PCC Police and Crime Plan and the North East Lincolnshire CSP Plan outcomes.
VANEL will be promoting the fund on its website and ensuring all community safety partners signpost to the documentation and information about the fund.
VANEL will also offer 1-2-1 project development support and advice on access to potential match funding sources as well as alternative funds if not eligible for this.
The first of these 1-2-1 sessions will be held at the VANEL offices 23 Bargate Grimsby on Tuesday 25 and Wednesday 26 July 2017 from 9.30am to 4.30pm each day.
Keith Hunter, Police and Crime Commissioner for Humberside, said:
One of the key aims of my Police and Crime Plan is to deliver increasingly self-sustaining and safe communities. I have funded the Community Safety Partnership in North East Lincolnshire to ensure community groups have a local point of contact who knows the area and will encourage a greater community involvement to tackle crime and safety.
