Sportivate Funding Available
Active Humber’s “Sportivate” project is well under way and VANEL have supported successful bids to “Sportivate” from organisations and groups who work with young people. “Sportivate” is a National Lottery funded ‘Sport England’ programme which launched in 2011. “Sportivate” was created to continue the legacy left behind by the London 2012 Olympic Games by encouraging young people between the ages of 11 and 25-years-old to participate in sporting activities. “Sportivate” are providing organisations’ and groups that work with young people the chance to recieve six-to-eight weeks of free or susidised coaching in a range of different sporting activities, giving them the chance to discover and get involved in a sport that they love.
Organisations and groups who are thinking of applying for “Sportivate” funding are encouraged to talk to VANEL. You can apply for funding to take part in an array of sporting activities from kayaking to table tennis, so there really is something for everyone. And don’t be put off if your group would like to take part in a sport which requires a specific location or venue, as would be the case with rowing or rock climbing. The requirement for a specific venue can be put into the application form and arranged later on. You do not have to have a sporting background to be eligible to apply for “Sportivate” funding.
What You Can Apply For:
- Sport Coaches/instructors
- Facility hire
- Equipment
- Training/leadership courses
- Incentives to enable support and motivate young people to engage in sporting activities after the programme has ended
For more information on how you can get involved in “Sportivate” talk to VANEL. Our Community Development intern Chris Luckman, is promoting “Sportivate” and offering support to clubs and organisations’ that work with young people and would like to apply for funding.
