Humberside Fire and Rescue Services – Consultation
The Humberside Fire and Rescue Service invites you to have your say on efficiency options.
Humberside Fire and Rescue Service has seen its budget reduce significantly over recent years and this is set to continue. The organisation has already made changes to enable £5m to be saved and it is predicted that the organisation will need to make further savings of £5.5m by 2016.
Earlier this year we wrote to you about our Operational Efficiency Programme and the engagement activity we were delivering to gain people’s views on our plans to meet our budget deficit. The options looked at ways we could reduce the cost of the operational part of the service, which is our greatest cost.
Following the engagement, we reported the responses to the Fire Authority in September, showing which options were preferred by the engagement participants, as well as suggestions that were made for additional options. Later that month, the Fire Authority approved a range of options to be taken for formal public 12-week consultation. The options include some that were originally engaged on as well as a number of new options that have been developed as a result of suggestions made by participants during the engagement process.
We would like to invite you to take part in the consultation by visiting one of our public events that are being held across the Humberside area. The events are an opportunity to learn more about our plans and have your say on the future of Humberside Fire and Rescue Service. Alternatively, information about the programme and the options is available on our website where you can also complete our online survey. You can visit our website at www.humbersidefire.gov.uk.
The consultation closes at midnight on Friday 10 January 2014.
Your views are important to us and by taking part you help share the future of your fire and rescue service.
