Addressing food waste locally
I am pulling together a bid to Sainsbury’s for £1M to address the issue of food waste in the borough. The date for submission is the end of October and I need input from the forum on the types of activity / innovative practice we could put in place to reduce food waste. Could you please let me have any thoughts on the things you would like to see included in the bid by close of play on 22nd October and could you focus your responses against one or more of the following
- Educational activity to raise people’s awareness of food waste and how to minimise food waste
- Behavioural change approaches – whether around shopping habits, use of food, freezing and food preservation options etc. and alternatives to landfill
- Product development and alternative packaging / disposal options
More details on the project are available here if you want a look before you submit a response. http://www.j-sainsbury.co.uk/wasteless
