The Eco Macs Club is an active Green Influencers Group at Macaulay Primary Academy in the West Marsh of Grimsby. The group involves children from the school and is led by the staffing team at the school.
The school are very keen to engage the young people with outdoor education and to enrichment the curriculum. We currently support a 1 hour after school Green Influencers club once a week. To form this group, they needed a minimum of x10 young people from years 5 and 6 to sign up.
This is a newly formed After School Eco Macs Club have been meeting to plan the development of a Friendship Garden. This has involved researching a range of relaxing elements such as plant life, sounds and colours. Attracting a range of wildlife to the garden is also an important aspect to their design. They want to add a bird bath, feeders and pollinating plants and flowers. They are keen to make the space as welcoming and relaxing as possible, they are even adding a welcome mat. Recycling as many items in the garden is important to this group and they were delighted with their efforts to turn plastic milk bottles into beautiful flowers for this area. They intend to add some shaded seating, a reading and games cupboard, as well as a friendship banner to help other children to become a good friend. We hope to have this Friendship Garden area completed in the Spring Term.
Watch this space, this group of hard-working Green Influencers will be ruling the recycling world….
