VANEL’s Volunteer Development Service
Friendship at Home and Harbour Place Day Centre are two of the first VANEL Member organisations to have signed up to VANEL’s Volunteer Development Service. The service, which costs £50 per year for VANEL Members and Friends, and £60 per year for non VANEL Members and Friends, is designed to support and develop the quality of volunteer programmes, and improve the knowledge and skills of the management team. As such, the Volunteer Centre team would encourage any organisation, VANEL Member or otherwise, who works with volunteers, to subscribe to the Volunteering Development Service, today!

By becoming a subscriber you will receive a whole host of benefits, the first of which being an invitation to the quarterly Volunteer Managers Network Meeting. The meetings will include talks from guest speakers, informal training, peer support, advice and guidance on volunteer matters. You will also benefit from a significant reduction in cost of the Supporting Volunteers Award Level 1 and 2. The SVA is a Northern Lincolnshire award, developed by VANEL, which demonstrates to prospective volunteers that your organisation is able to demonstrate good practice in all areas, from systems to procedures, to positive feedback from volunteers. Volunteer and volunteer Management training will also be subsidised. These are just some of the benefits of subscribing to the Volunteer Development service, and all for less than £1 per week!

On becoming a subscriber to the Volunteer Centre Development Service, Harbour Place Day Centre Project Coordinator Tina Andrew said: “We have subscribed to the Volunteer Development Service because we feel that it is essential to work in partnership with many organisations in order to provide a first class, robust volunteering experience within North East Lincolnshire. In order to achieve this we would like to continue to draw on the experience of other organisations with regards to best practice and volunteering. We have had great success with our volunteering programme and feel that our experience is also equally as valuable to others”.
Organisations that choose not to subscribe to the Volunteer Centre Service can pay £10 per meeting to attend future Volunteer Managers Network Meetings and a ‘pay per service’ as listed above if they prefer.
