Calling all Trustees – get involved with National Trustees’ Week soon
The first week in November is National Trustees’ Week. And to coincide, VANEL will be holding some events in Grimsby that week (2nd – 8th November). If you are a charity Trustee or thinking of becoming one, or you are a committee member of a community group, then we’d like to hear from you and hopefully see how we can help you during Trustees’ Week.
We’re finalising our plans for which days, times and venues that week, but some of the things we have planned include:
- A 2hr introduction to trusteeship for new or newer trustees and committee members. This is our popular, occasional “Roles and Responsibilities of Trustees” training.
-
A “Trustee Network” workshop afternoon. A chance to talk about key emerging themes in trusteeship and governance and to share thoughts, ideas, suggestions, resources and more. We’ll be looking at how to recruit trustees, how to train them, how to support them and develop them. We’ll explore board development resources and approaches (such as the Code of Good Governance). Using a workshop style we hope this will be a valuable conversation for anyone involved on a charity board or committee.
-
A short workshop looking at “technology and trustees”. Not technology training – this is more a wake up on why the trustee boards can’t afford to ignore technology these days and how they can approach it – even if they are technophobes!
If you are interested in any of these discussions please let me (Karl Elliott) know asap. I can then make sure you are directly kept informed as our plans come together for Trustees Week. Even if you can’t be involved during the week, I’d like to know if you are interested because I can then make sure you receive our new governance related newsletter which will start up in November.
