Seaweed Forager/Cook Wanted
IGNITE are looking for a seaweed forager/cook who is good with using local ingredients found on the coast to showcase their culinary skills at our upcoming World Oceans Day event taking place at the end of May. The event comes as part of our ongoing work with RiverCare and BeachCare in an effort to help people look after our coastlines and marine life. The reason we have chosen seaweed/coastal ingredients as a focal point is because they relate to water quality, and to be honest, who doesn’t love trying new/free food?!
World Oceans Day (WOD) is a global day of ocean celebration and collaboration for a better future. The official WOD is celebrated on the 8th June, however, we will be holding our WOD event on Tuesday 30th May 2017 at Cleethorpes Discovery Centre from 10 am until 4 pm. Join us for a day of fun, (hopefully sun) and marine conservation.
The day will include nature walks, conservation talks, a beach clean-up, the return of Explorabubble and the launch of IGNITE’s Virtual Reality experience, ‘Pipes Away!’
If you are a master seaweed chef, or know of someone who is, please ask them to get in touch. Contact Victoria@VANEL.org.uk
