Funding for Youth Volunteering throughout Lincolnshire
The Local Youth Social Action Programme is offering grants of up to £5,000 to groups working with young people between the ages of 10 and 20 years old (or 25 for young people with learning disabilities) living in Greater Lincolnshire. Read on for full details.
Guest Lecture from Radio and Transgender Icon Stephanie Hirst at Franklin College
On Friday 17th February, Radio presenter and transgender icon Stephanie Hirst delivered a guest talk at Franklin Colleges second pride event. Stephanie spoke to students, teachers and members of the public about her journey to self acceptance and the importance of celebrating people’s differences.
VANEL’s World Oceans Day 2017
VANEL’s IGNITE team are organising their first ever World Oceans Day event! The event will take place on Tuesday 30th May 2017 at Cleethorpes Discovery Centre from 10am – 4pm, and include nature walks, conservation talks and the launch of IGNITE’s Virtual Reality Experience, ‘Pipes Away!’ The event is free to attend and fun for all the family. Capacity Buildings Ltd, in conjunction with Comley Cameras, are holding their first ever beach hut #9 photographic competition! With four weeks left until the start of spring, why not head down to Marine Embankment, Cleethorpes, with your camera, and make the most of the last few weeks of winter sun!
Shoreline: Osbourne Office Street Closure
Shoreline Housing Partnership’s Osbourne Street office in Grimsby will be permanently closing at the end of March. The closure comes following government cuts to social housing rents by 1% per year for four years from 2016. Read of for full details and to view the press release.
Friend of Cleethorpes Heritage: Centenary Celebration!
Friends of Cleethorpes Heritage would like to invite you to an event they are holding to commemorate the Centenary of four well known battles of the Great War. The event is due to take place on Saturday 18th March, 2017 at St. Peters School Hall, Cleethorpes, from 11am until 4pm. The event is suitable for people of all ages and entry is free.
Free Course to Help People Living with and Beyond Cancer
Macmillan, in Partnership with Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust are holding a free six-week self-management course available to anyone living with and beyond a cancer diagnosis. The course starts on Friday 3rd March and is being held between 10am and 12.30pm at St Andrew’s Hospice, Peaks Lane, Grimsby, DN32 9RP.

Yarborough School Do Their Bit To Love Our Seaside
On Wednesay 15th February Staff and year one pupils from Yarborough School participated in a litter pick on a stretch of beach near Cleethorpes Leisure Centre. Also in attendance were representatives from Anglian Water, Keep Britain Tidy, and two of VANEL’s IGNITE team.
The Way Forward Event 2017
The next ‘Way Forward 2017’ event will take place on Wednesday 8th March at the Humber Royal Hotel, Littlecoates Road, Grimsby from 12:45 – 4:30. The North East Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Group are inviting patients, carers, voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations, partners, service providers and elected representatives to join them to move this forward here in North East Lincolnshire. NE Lincolnshire Needs Assessment Surveys
North East Lincolnshire Council are currently in the process of carrying out a needs assessment in relation to drugs and alcohol. They have therefore created three surveys in order to achieve this. Read on to complete the survey for service provider partners and the survey for the community/public.

ESF Community Grants Programme: Third Round of Funding Available
Humber Learning Consortium are pleased to announce the launch of the third round of ESF funding. ESF Community Grants are part of the European Social Fund (ESF) programme which is distributing small grants in the Humber, East Riding, York and North Yorkshire region. The aim of the fund is to help unemployed people progress towards employment through access to learning and training opportunities delivered by not for profit organisations in the heart of predominantly disadvantaged communities. The deadline for Humber and East Riding applications is Friday 24th March – 4.00pm.
WE DAY Social Action Club 2017! April 6th at the Grimsby Institute
Keep Thursday 6th April free as ‘Mini’ WE Day is returning to North East Lincolnshire for its third consecutive year. This years event “Social Action Club 2017” is being organised by founder of Counting Hope and Diana Award holder, Andy Green. The event is open to all school’s within Yorkshire and Humber, and is free to attend.
