Volunteer Passport scheme from VANEL gets support from Awards for All

VANEL are very pleased that we managed to secure funding from The National Lottery Communities Fund (Big Lottery as it was then) for our Volunteer Passport scheme specifically targeting young adults.

So we’ve been busy developing the Volunteer Passport learning content with groups of local young people. Once they have completed the Volunteer Passport sessions, the young people then go on to apply the learning in practice, supported by peer mentors if needed.

It is making a really positive difference for young adults who have no experience of volunteering by providing an initial introduction for them. As part of the the support we also go on to share specific information about the local area where volunteering takes place and talk about how and where to find volunteer roles.

The Volunteer Passport forms part of the young person’s individual journey in to a job or career and can also help achieve their training and learning goals. We know that the wider community will also benefit from having more young adults with improved awareness about volunteering and time and skills to meet volunteering needs of our local voluntary and community groups.

If you feel this might be of interest to you or to young people you know then please contact Liz Dugard at VANEL who is leading the programme. Contact Liz on 01472 231123; email: liz@vanel.org.uk
