2nd Immingham Scouts are again this year participating in the annual Scout Post programme. Stamps will additionally this year be available from the Volunteer Centre office at VANEL, 23 Bargate, Grimsby, upstairs at the rear of the chiropractors.
Scout Post is a big fund raising event for all scout groups locally and is also a great way of getting our leaders and young people out and about within their local communities. The funds raised this year will, as always, go towards assisting with cost of insurances and registrations for members with district, regional and national scouting bodies. We encourage all families in our group to participate in postal activity or help towards this cost by financial means.
The group are expanding at present with numbers of young people and are very short of leaders to help out on a weekly basis. If you feel you could help with the cubs, beavers or scouts please contact firstname.lastname@example.org The group also need adults who may wish to help in other ways such as our steering group/executive committee who help manage day to day issues like fundraising/HR/financial decisions/room hire/networking/admin and so forth. This is more on an ad hoc basis so please again contact Jenny Hodson on email@example.com.
What is Scout Post?
Scout Post has been running in Grimsby and Cleethorpes District for many years. Scout Groups offer the public a local postal service to deliver Christmas cards across North East Lincolnshire and parts of Lincolnshire.
How does it work?
Stamps go on sale on Saturday 11th November 2017 and can be purchased from various different retail outlets and public buildings across the area. Stamps this year remain just 25p each. To download a full list of locations you can buy stamps, please CLICK HERE.
We will also be selling stamps in Freshney Place again this year from Monday 4th to Sunday 10th December 2017. Stamps are 25p each and the deliveries are only to localised North East Lincolnshire areas and some outskirt villages nearby. Full list is on the poster attached.
Christmas cards are then posted in Scout Post boxes, available at the same locations from Friday 24th November 2017. Cards must be fully addressed with: Surname, House Name/Number, Street Name, Post Code.
All cards must be posted by 6pm on Tuesday 12th December 2017.
Local Scout Groups will then collect, sort and deliver the cards before Christmas.
All proceeds go to support Scouting in the local area. Helping to create a more positive future for young people.
