Civil Society Futures is exploring the future of our Civil Society and they want you to contribute
Civil Society Futures – headed up by Julia Unwin, previously of the Rowntree Foundation – has been set up recently to deep think the future of the UK’s Civil Society.
Fundamentally they are asking the question “the the UK’s charity model fit for purpose?”.
In order to answer this they are asking for contributions far and wide and it’s a chance for us all to contribute. They will be very public in their approach and findings and will have the ear of government, the Charity Commission and others, so rather than await their findings, we all have the opportunity to tell our own stories and make our own contributions.
Julia Unwin has explained their purpose and approach in this Guardian article and you can read their initial report here, visit their website here, and take part in the consultation here.
Essentially they are asking 4 key (and significant) questions:
Q1. What purpose does civil society fulfil now? What purpose will civil society need to fulfil in the future? What do you think they should/should not be doing?
Q2. What is driving or inhibiting change in civil society? How will different forms of civil society respond to social, political, economic, environmental and technological change over the future?
Q3. What new forms of civil society do you see emerging now and why? Given the right circumstances, what might their impact be in the future?
Q4. How and in what ways can civil society enable human flourishing now and in the future? In what ways is civil society important for a healthy democracy?
Have a think & take time to make a contribution.
