Care starts up Toys for Joy scheme in runup to Christmas
Throughout the year CARE work with and support very vulnerable and disadvantaged families. As we all begin making our preparations for Christmas there are many parents across North East Lincolnshire who find this time of year the most distressing due to their financial situations. What should be a time of joy and peace, often ends up the opposite for these families.
Every year leading up to Christmas CARE runs a Toys for Joy scheme and over the last 4 years we have given nearly 1,500 gifts out to children in need in the local area. This year we need your help! We are asking members of the public, organisations and businesses to partner with us to help put a smile on a local child’s face on 25th December.
Over the next few weeks we are asking for donations of good quality second hand or brand new toys and gifts etc. that can be given to children. Then the week before Christmas staff and volunteers within the charity sort through these donations. We are then open for 2 days (10th & 11th December 2014) where support workers and professionals can bring parents they know who are in genuine need to choose a selection of gifts per child.
If you are able to help, donations can be dropped off at the following collection points;
Our Family & Support Centre, 18 Hainton Avenue, Grimsby Monday – Friday 10am-3.30pm
Our charity shop called The CARE Shop on Alexandra Road in Cleethorpes Monday – Saturday 9am- 4pm
If organisations or businesses want to organise a big collection we can arrange for them to be collected, just contact the reception on 01472 232310.
Thank you in advance for your support and kindness to this very worthy cause.
