Humberside Fire and Rescue Service ARK Project
Dear Sir / Madam
Training Centre proposal – The ARK
Some of you may have been in attendance at Humberside Fire and Rescue Service (HFRS) Headquarters, Hull earlier this year in which an exciting new project was shared. I would like to ask you for some feedback on the potential use of such a facility.
The ARK project will see a new water safety and flood response training centre built within the Humberside area to allow agencies, partners and volunteers from across the region and beyond to train in realistic surroundings. The site will include an 80 metre swift moving watercourse for emergency services to train in rescue techniques. It will also include a ‘street scene’ in which properties (domestic and commercial) can be flooded in a controlled manner and techniques for safe movement in static water, as well as property protection, can be practised. It is the intention of HFRS to increase the awareness and abilities of communities, volunteers and agencies to act safely in flood emergencies and keep vulnerable people safe.
As part of this exciting venture, HFRS are considering the countless possibilities that the ARK would offer and would like to ask if your organisation would have a keen interest in being involved.
Please could you complete the attached and return to me in order for HFRS to ascertain at this early stage, opportunities for developing the concept through to design and build. Should you have any further questions, please contact me. I have included you on this email as I know we have engaged in joint activities before, should you feel it necessary to share this email with contacts you have that would be keen in contributing, whether they be internal to your organisation or external, please pass on these details.
Thanks in advance for your return, I look forward to updating you on the future progress of the ARK project.
Steve
