Great success for Green Venue with Blue Lights!
There was an excellent turnout for our Volunteer Manager’s network session today hosted by Green Futures and featuring a presentation by Steve Lynn on our Blue Lights Brigade programme complete with a brief history of local policing.
We were delighted to be joined by new members, including organisation’s from North Lincolnshire and the Humber, and of course welcome the continued support from our existing subscribers.
The meeting, as usual, was a great opportunity for participants to discuss volunteer management issues, gaining support, advice and top tips from their peers. It is always comforting to know that others have dealt with similar situations and found a range of solutions. The meeting offers a great learning opportunity to volunteer managers and a chance make new connections and develop new partnerships. Already this morning two organisations were planning new joint working activities.
VANEL also invited organisations to gain or renew their Supporting Volunteers Award, a local quality award for volunteer involving organisations. The award allows organisations to measure their existing volunteer programme against a set of standards and also includes volunteer interviews to provide a 360 degree overview. Volunteers have enjoyed having their voices heard as part of this process and have shaped the development of volunteer programmes as a result.
