LINKAGE HAS CHRISTMAS WRAPPED AT GRIMSBY
Festive shoppers in Grimsby can enjoy some seasonal help in the run-up to Christmas with the launch of a gift-wrapping service by the learning disability charity, Linkage.
Staff, students and clients from the Lincolnshire-based organisation have been invited by Freshney Place Shopping Centre to provide the extra help, as Linkage is their charity of the year for 2015-16. In return for a donation, Linkage will provide a choice of gift-wrap, which has been kindly provided by The Works, House of Fraser and Marks & Spencer. The first session will be on Thursday 19th November from 4.30-7.30pm.
Festive shoppers can also pick up some stocking fillers from the Linkage stand including glossy Linkage ArtBeat calendars for £5, Christmas cards in packs of 10 for £3.50, specially-made crafts from Linkage’s Wood ‘n’ Stuff enterprise in Louth and other products made by Linkage College students. The Linkage stall can be found near the Next store.
Fundraising and Development Manager Julie Stubbs says: “This is a great way for our customer service team to gain great experience and to raise the profile of Linkage as we approach our 40th anniversary year. Not only will we have a team of gift-wrappers, but also some ideal Christmas products made here in Lincolnshire.”
The Linkage service will then operate on the following Thursdays between 4.30pm and 7.30pm: 26th November, 3rd December and 10th December. At weekends: from 11am-3pm on Sunday 22nd November, Saturday 28th, Sunday 6th December and Saturday 12th.
Amanda Austin, Centre Director, says: “It is the perfect opportunity for our charity of the year to raise money by providing this service for customers. I am sure the Linkage students and clients will love the atmosphere as well.”
Customer Services and Business Administration are among a range of NVQ courses on offer at Linkage College on Weelsby Road in Grimsby, the specialist further education provider for students with learning difficulties. The college is operated by Linkage, the learning disability charity.
