Celebrating Cleethorpes Community Cops
VANEL and the Blue Lights Brigade programme have been funded through the National Lottery Heritage Fund to research the history of policing in Cleethorpes. At present there is no single reference source on local policing and there is no single place for the public (or the Police themselves) to find out about the history of the profession. So our “Celebrating Cleethorpes Community Cops” project will carry out the historical research, compile the information and share it for the future.
The project will run from May 2018 until April 2019.
Updates on the project will be shared via VANEL website, blog, e-bulletin, social media and more.
We’re interested in contributions from the community. So if you know Cleethorpes, know anything about Policing in Cleethorpes, have perhaps been part of Cleethorpes Policing and so on, then we’d really like to hear from you. Perhaps you can share information, stories, anecdotes, memorabilia, photos or volunteer or more.
We now have a website

With Thanks To
Everyone – staff and volunteers – who have contributed to the project to this stage. In particular Steve Lynn (ex-Police, ex-VANEL, volunteer on the project) and Doreen Tyson (volunteer heritage researcher and the one who’s contributed most of the background information to this project!)
Thanks too to our funder – National Lottery Heritage Fund.
