Guidance on using VANEL for promotion
Members and Friends
Organisations which are Members or Friends of VANEL may use our communication channels such as our website, newsletter, facebook and twitter feeds to promote their news, events and activities.
News articles or event information can be submitted to VANEL (via firstname.lastname@example.org) and (after vetting) VANEL staff can add member’s news to the appropriate channels. Please ensure that the arrangement/wording of the material you would like us to promote is as close as possible to version you wish us to publish. VANEL staff cannot spend a disproportionate amount of time editing, rewriting, preparing photos etc. Help us to help get your message out by providing us with clear materials.
Keep your eyes peeled for our weekly e-bulletin on our website as well as our quarterly newsletter.
Members and Friends can also (at their request) be allocated a user account on the VANEL website and can receive training to allow them to upload their own events or news articles to the site. All news articles go through a moderator at VANEL prior to being published, but this process provides VANEL members with a simple route to publicise whatever they want to make public.
So what are you waiting for? Become a Member or Friend of VANEL today!
All you have to do is complete the Member/Friend application form and send it back to us with the £25 annual membership fee. The form can be obtained from the VANEL office, downloaded as a pdf document here to print and fill in, or as a MS Word document version here to print or complete electronically.
Our Facebook page, Volunteer Grimsby is just another one of the channels we use to promote your news or event. Over 300 people have already ‘liked’ our page and are recieving up-to-date news about what is going on within the local community. Are you? ‘Like’ us today and join the conversation.
VANEL staff tweet via @vaneltalk news and information that we feel is relevant to our near 400 followers. If Members or Friends have their own Twitter feeds then we are happy to follow them from @vaneltalk and will retweet your news as and when we feel it is appropriate. If you haven’t already, follow us on Twitter and get involved.
More on Events
If a member organisation already holds events in a public calendar (e.g. a public Google calendar), then it is possible for the VANEL calendar to ‘import’ this to republish those events on our calendar. If this makes sense to you then please contact the editor to discuss adding your event feed to our calendar.
VANEL can help you to communicate via the following channels:
- VANEL.org.uk news blog on website
- VANEL.org.uk event calendar
- VANEL Facebook page @Volunteergy
- VANEL Twitter account @vaneltalk
- VANEL quarterly e-newsletter
- VANEL weekly automated news e-bulletin
Contact the Editor at VANEL (Karl Elliott) via email@example.com.
Send news or information to the editor for publication.
Or if you would like a login to the VANEL main website at vanel.org.uk either to promote events or to promote news, then also contact Karl/the editor to obtain a login and organise training.
