World Toilet Day: Saturday 19th November
On Saturday 19th November 2016, VANEL, in partnership with Anglian Water’s ‘Keep It Clear’ campaign, will be holding a World Toilet Day event to raise awareness of the global sanitation crisis facing 2.4 billion people in the developing world. The event will take place at People’s Park in Grimsby, from 11am until 2pm and is free to attend. We will be holding a Mummification and colouring contest, toilet roll ten pin bowling, photo booth and much much more! For more information contact Victoria at VANEL. (01472) 231 123.

Grimsby and District Live at Home Scheme Fashion Show This December
The Grimsby and District Live at Home Scheme in partnership with the Style Lounge are holding a fashion show on Sunday 4th December 2016 at Humberston Academy. Doors open at 12:30pm for a 1pm start. HealthWin Success
VANEL are pleased to announce that we have offered our support to a significant number of local organisations and ‘Communities of Interest’ during the month long period that stage one funding applications to HealthWin were being accepted. Nearly half of the groups we worked with were invited to submit a more detailed stage two funding bid, and we are excited to find out which groups will soon be in receipt of the funding that they need!

Exciting Changes For Positive Activities
Some exciting changes have been happening at Positive Activities over the past few months. The organisation, formerly known as GHoPA, has moved to a new location, has a new telephone number, as well as new Twitter and Facebook handles. And to top it all off, in 2017, Positive Activities will be celebrating their 10th birthday! Positive Activities have recently submitted a funding bid to the Aviva Fund for their ‘healthy mind and body’ programme, Spirited. To be in with a chance of being awarded the funding they need to trial the programme, they need your vote. Read on to find out more!

Friendship at Home and Harbour Place Day Centre have become two of the first VANEL Member organisations to have signed up to the Volunteer Development Service. The Volunteer Development Service is designed to support and develop the quality of volunteer programmes, and improve the knowledge and skills of the management team. The Volunteer Centre team would encourage any organisation, VANEL Member or otherwise, who works with volunteers, to subscribe to the Volunteering Development Service, today! Cleethorpes’ Winter Wonderland 2016
Winter Wonderland is returning to Cleethorpes Meridian Showground for four days this December and promises to be even more magical than last year. The event opens on Thursday 8th December and closes on the evening of Sunday the 11th. Estuary TV Documentary and Exhibition on Humber Minesweeping Story This November
The contribution of hundreds of trawlermen from Grimsby and Hull, who formed a minesweeping operation in World War One to protect the Royal Navy, will be marked with a one hour documentary and exhibition by Estuary TV, the region’s local broadcaster of news and entertainment. The programme will be aired on Sunday 6th November at 7pm. Don’t worry if you miss it, it will be aired again the following Sunday and available to watch online via estuary.tv.
Centre for Social Justice Awards 2017 (UK)
Charities, small voluntary groups, or other projects tackling social issues at the local level are invited to apply for the Centre for Social Justice (CSJ) Awards 2017. The annual CSJ Awards programme recognises local groups that address a range of entrenched social issues. Each winning organisation receives a prize of £10,000 and the rare chance to have their work profiled at the CSJ Awards ceremony in London. Read on for full details.

Funding Round Up
Read on to discover funding opportunities available this November from The Galaxy Hot Chocolate Fund and the Discovery Communities. The GALAXY Hot Chocolate Fund is looking to help small, local community projects and groups, and will be awarding a total of seventy £300 donations across the UK and Ireland. The Discovery Communities event is your chance to join with communities from across the UK to learn about the innovative food waste campaigns being tested in Derbyshire. You will take part in a novel ‘balloon debate’ deciding which of five great ideas will be awarded a £2,000 prize to help cut food waste in their community.

Anglian Water Presents ‘Dame Flush and the Wicked Wipe’, Free For Junior School Students and over 65s
Anglian Water’s annual Christmas panto ‘Dame Flush and the Wicked Wipe’ will be performed at the Grimsby Institute of Further and Higher Education on Friday 9th December 2016 at 2pm.
