VANEL is working in partnership with North East Lincolnshire Council’s Safer and Stronger Communities team on their Bygone Beachcombers project. We are appealing for people who used the beach huts when they were in their prime to come forward and share their stories. The stories will be shared on the Bygone Beachcombers website. North East Lincolnshire Council’s Safer and Stronger Communities team are creating a place where people can learn about the history of Cleethorpes over the last three centuries both online and in person through their Heritage Lottery funded Bygone Beachcomber Project. The team are working to create a display within the beach hut where visitors can view photographs, posters, souvenirs and memorabilia relating to Cleethorpes which they otherwise might not have had the opportunity to see. With four weeks left until the start of spring, why not head down to Marine Embankment, Cleethorpes, with your camera, and make the most of the last few weeks of winter sun!
Brighten up your autumn days with a visit to beach hut #9. The beach hut was refurbished earlier in the year following a donation from the Tribune Trust, and is free for community use from schools, organisations and families. The beach hut is available between Monday to Friday from 9:30am to 3:30pm and can seat up to 8 people inside and 8 people on the veranda. To make a booking contact VANEL.
Voluntary Action North East Lincolnshire (VANEL) has teamed up with North East Lincolnshire County Council, and Member organisation, Capacity Buildings Ltd, to transform a tired and disused old beach hut in Cleethorpes, into a place that can be enjoyed by the whole community. Following a £1,500 donation from the Lincolnshire Sheriff’s Tribune Trust and months of hardwork, on Friday 16th September 2016, Beach Hut Number Nine officially opened.
You are invited to the grand opening of the Community Beach Hut in Cleethorpes at 10:00am on Friday 23rd Sepember 2016. Beach Hut number 9 has been transformed from its previous state of dilapidation, into a much needed space designed for the use and enjoyment of the whole community.
