Our weekly roundup of news related to governance, trusteeship and leadership: We’ve not had many Governance Weekly articles recently – much of the focus this year has shifted to GDPR specifically. So this week here’s a quick catch up for trustees and committee members both on GDPR matters and on other governance news…
The Critical Incident Response Forum’s inaugural meeting was hosted in Manchester this week and VANEL was in attendance. Read on to find out more about what this group is about.
The plans for the VANEL and IGNITE led V:Expo event for Grimsby are now ready. Over 2 sessions (at Central Hall) we’ve got a range of key national speakers as well as lots of workshops. Bookings now open and young people or groups working with young people would benefit from visiting. So read on for details and how to book.
IGNITE have been delivering these Inspiration Workshops for young people for a while now. But there’s plenty more chances for young people to book places and get inspired about tech. Read on for details.

VANEL are holding a free workshop (for member groups) to help you learn a bit more about the future of tech, our present takeup of technology and work out how we can all make improvements. Volunteers’ Week is in June and once again VANEL is involved with a V:EXPO event that we’re inviting everyone to attend. This year the structure of the event is different and we have an event here in Grimsby on 5th June and organised by and for young people. But anyone can attend. So read on for the background to the event this year and find out why you should come along. In particular we need organisations to also attend so find out why this might mean you.

The community Beach Hut in Cleethorpes has been closed up over the winter months, but it’s now being opened up ready for the start of the new season. You’ll be getting ready for GDPR at the moment, so you’ll need to read this. Legitimate Interest is an alternative to consent under GDPR, but it’s complicated to understand which to use. Luckily the ICO has just published very useful guidance. Read on for where to find this information.
The next in the series of Organised Dialogues will take place at WMCC on 19th April. the topic is Brexit and Young People. The discussion will take the form of a full restorative dialogue and this is a wonderful opportunity to discuss and learn together. Read on for all the details.
