We’ve recently restarted Community Safety Drop-ins at our community hub at 82 Grimsby Road, and held a larger, half-day Community Safety Event at the start of November. Our next drop-in will be on Wednesday 3rd December.
The drop-ins will be generally monthly with a member of the local Sidney Sussex Neighbourhood Policing Team attending alongside Karl from VANEL who will be covering issues around Neighbourhood Watch, Scams awareness and other community safety topics.
The next drop in will be Wed 3rd December 2025, 11am-12noon at 82 Grimsby Road, Cleethorpes. No need to book – just pop in. Largely aimed at residents in Sidney Sussex Ward, but anyone welcome and we’ll try and answer your questions and provide useful advice. Read more about the first recent drop-in here. Latest details about our drop-ins on the VANEL website here.

In November we went a bit larger, hosting a half-day Community Safety Event at the hub with the help of partners.
The event was funded by the Sidney Sussex Ward Councillors from a community safety part of their ward budget. The event was organised by VANEL as part of our Big Local North Cleethorpes approach and we were pleased to be able to host partners on the day – Humberside Police Sidney Sussex Neighbourhood Team and Victim Support. Conversations with local residents provided them with plenty of advice, free materials and, in the case of a couple of local residents, some free personal alarms and safety equipment.
Thank you to all the partners who attended and for everyone who popped in.

Whilst we hold these occasional events, the VANEL team – normally Karl – attend other events once in a while to share community safety advice and signposting. Karl recently had a community safety stand at an LHP community safety fun-day at Grange Community Centre; in September we had a stand at the LLP organised Older People’s Advice Day in Cleethorpes; and Karl was in Nunsthorpe in September at another large, open air partnership safety day (“Together for Tomorrow”) held in Sutcliffe Park and organised by LHP and Oasis as part of the Clear Hold Build Agenda.

If you can’t find us at an event, but would like to talk to us about anything community safety related, remember that you can pop into the community hub at 82 Grimsby Road, Cleethorpes any time we are open (Mon-Thur, 9am-3pm usually) to pick up leaflets and guides to Neighbourhood Watch or anything else safety related. The community hub is the base for North Cleethorpes Neighbourhood Watch – so please feel free to talk to us about any of your issues.
