Scams are never out of the news and VANEL has been playing our part over the past few years to help people recognise scams and try and avoid them.
Since 2022 VANEL have been funded via FraudWatch to provide scams/fraud awareness talks across North East Lincolnshire. We’ve just come to the end of our latest funded year and Karl has completed 13 talks this year, reaching around 350 people. Since Karl started doing talks about scams and fraud in 2021, he’s probably delivered around 35 talks and reached 900 people. That’s a lot of people who hopefully know a little more about how to protect themselves from scams.

Karl is also a Cyberhood Watch Ambassador (for Ourwatch) and a Friends Against Scams Champion and will be continuing to reach out into our communities this year to talk about scams and fraud and help people stay safe.
Karl continues to deliver talks to our Member organisations. Talks recently have been delivered to Grimsby in Bloom; Carelink and St Andrews Hospice and to a number of the social groups led by Friendship at Home. If you’re a VANEL member and run a group then contact Karl to arrange a talk.
Karl is also leading on Neighbourhood Watch and the rural Neighbourhood Networking programme, so if your group is in one of the rural North East Lincolnshire wards then Karl might be able to deliver a talk for you. Just get in touch.
