The community hub at 82 Grimsby Road continues to thrive. As well as being VANEL’s offices and meeting spaces, we host a number of resident social groups throughout the week and the space is always ready to welcome in more of our community.
If you’ve never visited, please drop in. The hub is normally open Mon-Thu 9am-3pm. But because our staff team are flexible on a variety of projects, please make sure you check that someone will be there before you make a special trip. (01472 231123).
The hub is a main large room (and a few rooms available to rent), but also has a green ‘yard space’ and, critically, our ‘Red Shed’ – the hands-on activity space known as “Brocklebank Hall”. Many of our groups meet in the Shed.
Mondays are our Ancestry research group.
Tuesdays the ladies meet as a crafts and arts social group.
Wednesdays and Thursdays you’ll find the gents with their arts, model making and ‘gaming’ group often in the shed.
Once a month there’s a quiz and games event which the members of our various groups get involved with. Always a lot of fun and variety.
But as well as these regular groups we also host:
A monthly Camerados Public Living Room. Simply pop in for a chat and a cuppa – there’s no other reason to be there other than to socialise.
We try and hold a monthly Community Safety drop in too – usually alongside a member of the local Neighbourhood Policing Team.
Over the winter we’ve officially been a ‘warmspace’ so that anyone can pop in whilst we’re open for a drink and a chat and to stay warm.
But of course we’re more than happy to be welcoming anyone in at anytime too.
Each month we try and organise an event. We’ve been doing this since December 2023 when re hosted our first ‘Jingle Mingle’ and we’ve continued largely every month since!
In May we’ve got a ‘hedgehog welfare’ themed event for young children (and families), but if you’re around on 25th June why not pop in for our social event as part of the Jo Cox get together.

June 2025 is ‘Month of Community’ so we’ll be busy in the hub being part of our own community around North Cleethorpes.
VANEL works closely with communities and groups across North East Lincolnshire so running our own community building keeps us directly connected to the efforts everyone else is doing as they try to support their communities.
