Children in Need: Cleethorpes

VANEL secured a BBC Children in Need grant in May 2025 for 3 years to support environmental project work with early years children in Cleethorpes.

The intended outcomes are to offer nature-based activities in safe outdoor spaces for young people and opportunities for them to create happy memories with their families.

The difference we will make for children and young people

We aim to improve the young people’s health and wellbeing by enabling them to positively engage in natural environmental social action change activities. We will achieve this together with their family members by building lasting and meaningful connections with each other, nature, and encouraging a passion for creativity and crafting within the family hub, community hub, primary school and at home. Collectively, we will support the children to develop their ideas to improve outdoor learning areas at the family hub and school so more families can benefit from the learning with clear pathways from early learning into school.

Children and their wider families will feel and be healthier both mentally and physically as a result of engaging in our green activities. We will strengthen their passion for nature, the outdoors, creativity, and crafting. Families will feel the positive impact of taking part in fun and positive shared environmental improvement experiences. We will make good memories and form new friendships within our community by starting individual journeys of social action resulting in positive impacts on the children and their families to share with others. We will also promote a sense of pride and responsibility for their local natural environment
