Green Influencers recently were invited to have a stand at STEM Conference and Careers and Progression Evening at Franklin Sixth Form College. The stand was vey much a collaboration with the students – in particular the Franklin Sixth Form College NEWT (Nature, Environment & Wildlife Team). Sam and Sophie from VANEL had a very busy time getting everything ready and had a great event on the day.
NEWT is a wildlife/nature based PPD (personal & professional development) group led by the students. Over the past couple of months, the group has been working with Green Influencers at VANEL to put together a display which was presented at the STEM conference.
The display consists of a wildlife campaign assembled by the NEWT students, with a focus on local wildlife, wildlife in danger of extinction and how we can all help wildlife. The stand aimed at inspiring potential new student members to join the group and to take part in positive environmental action.
Also featured in the display were commissioned pieces of poetry, artwork and a poster for the ‘Our Caring Sun’ project, which is this years Care Action Theme. These three fantastic pieces were created by Franklin students, who were selected by the NEWT students, and then commissioned by Green Influencers.
The STEM event was a huge success, our joint stand looked great (and we were particularly pleased to be able to show off our brand new Green Influencers banner!). Well done to all the Franklin students who got involved, contributed or attended. And let’s hope that this all kick starts some real positive environmental actions from students.
If you want to see the stand for yourself, it will be shown again at the Helios event at Grimsby Minster (free tickets can be booked on the link below) and at Franklin’s PPD event on Thursday 30th April.
Helios is part of the Our Future Starts Here programme which is supported and funded by The National Lottery Community Fund. VANEL and Green Influencers are proud partners of the programme alongside Franklin College, The Culture House, Hammond House and Hull University.
