We connect to so many families and children through our various Little Green Influencers groups, so it was important to try and offer a few opportunities for the children during half-term.
So, we organised a “Funny Bones” story time activity session and then were very lucky to be able to pair up with What If We Create CIC for a Lenzig foot casting session.
(I’ll follow up next week with a story about our Halloween events!)
Funny Bones storytime
“Funny Bones” is a classic children’s book and during half-term we hosted two “Storytime Halloween Specials” at West Marsh and Reynolds Family hubs. (These followed on from our Summer holiday storytime workshops).
After reading the book together there was a lot of fun and games and crafting around the ideas of skeletons! Over a dozen attendees joined in for a lot of fun.

Lenzing foot impression slippers
To support local environmental sustainability and community heritage, our Green Influencers VANEL families were delighted to be invited to take part in a range of wonderful Lenzing workshops with the What If We Create CIC team over the past few weeks. (Lenzing produce a more environmentally friendly form of fibre).
Some of our Little Green Influencers, who attend our weekly Gardening & Craft Groups at the Nunsthorpe & West Marsh Family Hubs, were excited to help create their Lenzing foot impression slippers with the team. It was great fun popping on their wellingtons over the Lenzing fibres to take part in our leaf dance and Autumn Trial around the garden. This helped to capture their foot impressions. The children really enjoyed using this fantastically soft product to create something truly wonderful. We are sure that the children will treasure these slippers forever!
If you get the chance, please pop in and have a look at the exhibition, where the slippers are on display.
Exhibition:Open every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday up to the 15th November for viewing at the People Make Grimsby shop (near Next in Freshney Place Shopping Centre)
The fun didn’t stop there, some of our families also took the opportunity to attend further FREE workshops in the half term holiday. These involved using Lenzing to create Wonderful Spider’s Web Wall Hangings and Fabulous Foliage Printed Images (involving using the product to create the printing paper).
We are very grateful for being able to take part in this wonderful project.
(The workshops were designed as part of the What If We Create CIC Artist in Residence for the Lenzing Grimsby Ltd.)
