We’ve been mapping all of the green spaces across Cleethorpes and looking at the history of those spaces. And we’re encouraging people to get out and explore that greenery; perhaps understand more about why it is there, and hopefully get fit and have some fun at the same time.

Cleethorpes includes:

– A Country Park
– A nature reserve and some scientifically important sand dunes
– A range of Parks and Gardens
– A cemetery
– Various natural amenity spaces around where people live
– Sports facility green spaces including a Football Ground
– Treelined streets
– Wooded natural corridors
– Natural open spaces for leisure                                                            – North Beach
– Private natural areas, such as Chapmans Pond
– Smaller garden squares and spaces such as those in front of churches and community venues, and even roundabouts

Most of these natural, green spaces are available for the public to visit and enjoy. Some provide spaces to relax or get exercise; others provide spaces for wildlife and plants to exist. Almost all of these spaces have been created over the past century as Cleethorpes has developed. The coming of the railway and the emergence of tourism also saw creation of parks and gardens; whilst building homes created further open spaces in between. There is plenty of history hidden behind the Green Spaces in Cleethorpes.

We hope this website will be informative, but we also hope you’ll get on your bikes or get walking and start exploring some of our Green Cleethorpes routes.

There are a number of Parks and Gardens (for example Sidney Park, Pier Gardens, Haverstoe Park).

There are Allotments, Tree Lined Streets (not many these days), amenity open spaces and other green spaces (such as Chapmans Pond or the Pocket Park at North Beach).  We’re building a guide of everything green across Cleethorpes here.

We’re exploring the history of green Cleethorpes. There’s a bit of a story here and a timeline here.

We’re also encouraging people to get out and explore the natural environment in Cleethorpes.

We’re creating walking routes and cycling routes so that you can take in all of these green spaces.
