New bill to encourage trees on streets

We’re keen to see a resurgence of tree-lined avenues and streets in Cleethorpes. Looking back through history, St Peter’s Avenue, Grimsby Road and many other streets were well established avenues with trees along them.

Just picture looking at those tree tops from your tram as it traveled down Grimsby Road in days of old…

So we are interested to see that a new bill is working its way through parliament.

Called the Tree Lined Streets Bill 2019-21.

It’s long title is “A Bill to require building developers to ensure that the streets of major new developments are lined with trees; and for connected purposes. ”

Very, very long way to go with this one (status), but would be nice to think that new developments in Cleethorpes in the years ahead have to include trees…
