If you’re aged 16-30 and volunteering or if you’re supporting young people in volunteering, fundraising or other social action, then this new report will be worth a read.
“The independent review of full time social action” has just been published. It looks at why and how younger people get involved in social projects, what issues and barriers exist and outlines practical steps to improve on this.
The review itself perhaps uncovers nothing new, but there are some clear actions and recommendations to government that are worth exploring.
Read an outline of the report on the NCVO blog here, or get the report itself (.pdf) here.
More immediately, if you are in this age group or supporting younger people then why not get in touch with the IGNITE team at VANEL. We’re actively working on developing community leadership through young people – helping them to start up projects, learn skills, get involved in fundraising, volunteering and social action locally. So we’re ideally placed to talk to you about opportunities.
Visit www.ignitegy.org.uk and contact Jenny or any of the IGNITE team for a conversation.
