VANEL

VANEL is holding a “Governance Challenge Workshop” during Trustees Week

During Trustees’ Week (13th-17th November), VANEL will be championing the role of those volunteers who lead and steer their organisations through their roles on committees and charity boards. And during that week we’ll be holding a short workshop to explore what ‘good governance’ means and how you and your board can work towards it.

“Governance Challenge Workshop”

Wednesday 15th November, 2pm-4pm at VANEL offices.

Free to attend for anyone connected to a VANEL Member or Friend organisation. But places limited, book first via Karl Elliott (karl@vanel.org.uk).

It’s not training – but rather a workshop facilitated conversation where we can explore a couple of questions to challenge ourselves and our boards:

Q: can our governance be better?

Q: does it need to be better?

Q: what do I/we need to do to make it better?

Do we stay where we are with the quality and effectiveness of our governance approaches or should we be aspiring to be doing it a bit differently and better? If so, how do we know what we should do? What is the real benefit (if any?) How do we start along the process of improvement knowing how busy we all are and how many other things there are to do!

A couple of key resources we’ll be discussing are the new “Charity Governance Code” – a framework for assessing good governance against recognised best practices, and the newly reworked “Essential Trustee” setting out our fundamental requirements as trustees.

So join us at our workshop for an interesting and productive discussion.
