YMCA ‘Sleep Easy’ Campaign

The infomation below comes from Tony Bramley FCIH, Chief Executive of Shoreline Housing Partnership Ltd. On Friday February 3rd 2017, Tony and his team will once again be braving the harsh winter elements and taking part in the YMCA’s ‘Sleep Easy’ fundraising campaign. The campaign will see Tony sleep rough on the streets for his sixth consecutive year in an effort to raise awareness of this issue. “Good morning

Now when I said last year that after 5 years that I was done with this then I honestly thought I meant it – but then plans change and here I still am a sprightly sixty year-old (at least for another 10 weeks until semi-retirement) and truly overjoyed to dust off my annual e-mail yet again and say:

So I am now sleeping rough one more time (year 6) on the night of Friday 3rd February 2017 as part of the sturdy as-ever team from Shoreline taking part in the local YMCA’s ‘Sleep Easy’ awareness and fund-raising campaign on street homelessness among young people.

With 2016’s event only offering up a frankly derisible challenge of  -1oc (even with wind-chill, I ask you) I’m sure that we’re all hoping for something much closer to the rolling average for this event of around -70c to make my suffering worth the money?

You can heap cash on me or the team by clicking here, and while this is the preferred method of payment we’re not too proud to accept cash or cheques here at Shoreline if you wish, and the latter should be made payable to: YMCA Humber

This year we have also again partnered with Just Giving and Vodafone to provide a text donation service: Just text SLPY17 £XX (the amount you wish to donate) to 70070 to make a direct donation.

If you would like to support us we would be very grateful for anything received, but we’re also equally grateful (well almost) for simply any interest that this generates in this important issue. This event has raised over £125,000 in the Humber region over the last few years and details can be found at: www.sleep-easy.co.uk and can be followed on twitter at #SleepEasy17. (Follow this link if you would like to take part in the ‘Sleep Easy’ campaign! Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the Sleep easy which will start on the evening of the 3rd at 6pm and finish on the morning of the 4th at 6am).

My best wishes for 2017 (and who knows, for possibly our first ever night of positive temperatures if recent trends continue as they have been?

‘When will he stop?’ I hear you ask, and ’he can’t be trusted based on last year’, to which I say:  “Don’t be misled by History, or any other unreliable source”.

Donate to keep me quiet – you know it makes sense”.
