Funding via Active Communities is available for projects which aim to help create connections within the community, such as having volunteer drivers help pick up the elderly and disabled. The potential projects must also be designed and run by the local people, with support from VANEL when necessary. Also projects which help people to make their community or neighbourhood even better are another type of project that is more likely to be accepted.
Lots of different types of events have received funding. For example, youth clubs which run regularly throughout the week, to young rock music workshops for kids after school or drop-in centres for those who may be isolated and not have people to talk to. The range of topics which are able to be approved is very wide and allows for some more creative applications to be submitted.
The starting dates for application for funding in North East Lincolnshire is from 24th August- 21 September so the time for brain storming of ideas is now.
