Have you got experience as a volunteer? Do you want to work with young people aged between 11 and 25-years-old now, or in the future? Are you interested in being a part of a Community Development programme? If as of September 2016 you will be in your final year of university and answered yes to any or all of these questions, we are looking for you!
VANEL are recruiting four final year university students with an interest in community development to be a part of our newest ‘Reaching Communities’ programme, “Helping Young People to Help Each Other to Lead Their Communities”. The programme which, for now, is operating under the name of “Enfuse 2”, is recruiting four Youth Leadership Mentors to inspire and motivate young people to participate in a wide range of volunteering opportunities across North East Lincolnshire.
As a Youth Leadership Mentor you will champion the idea of youth-led volunteering and support young volunteers and their host organisations. The course you are studying for at university will enable you to develop links with other students, your peers, and other young people, with a potential to influence and encourage young people to make a positive impact in their community through volunteering. You will be working as part of a team alongside Youth Leadership Manager Jenny Hodson and Youth Leadership Workers’ Victoria Russell and Lisa Anderson.
You will be expected to effectively manage your responsibilities at university alongside your post as a Youth Leadership Mentor. The post requires you to work 15 hours per week at a rate of £7.20 per hour. There will be a requirement to work in normal office conditions as well as both inside and outside buildings in the community, depending on the activity being delivered. The ability to work to a flexible schedule is essential as evening and weekend work may be required.
The post is hosted by Voluntary Action North East Lincolnshire and funded by the National Lottery through the Big Lottery’s ‘Reaching Communities Fund’ and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
The closing date for applications is Friday 2nd September 2016 at 5:00pm.
A full job description and more information can be found on the VANEL website www.vanel.org.uk or call us on 01472 361043.
You can post/hand deliver your completed application form to VANEL, The Willows, 23 Bargate, Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire, DN34 4SS. Alternatively you can complete the form electronically and email it to richard@vanel.org.uk.
Successful applicants will be invited to an Assessment Day and Interview which will take place on Monday 12th September 2016 from 11:00am until 3:30pm.
The four applicants who are selected for the post of Youth Leadership Mentor will be expected to start the week commencing Monday 3rd October 2016.
