LINKAGE TO MOVE INTO RETAIL WITH LAUNCH OF OWN CHARITY SHOPS

The Lincolnshire learning disability charity, Linkage, is to operate its own chain of shops.

The move, to develop into retail, comes as the organisation is looking to further increase its fundraising income streams. The plan is to open a chain of charity shops across Greater Lincolnshire over the next three years and a Development Co-ordinator is being recruited to achieve this, with the outlets staffed by volunteers.

Linkage Chief Executive Valerie Waby says: “Charity shops can be goldmines for great bargains. We will look to offer different things in different locations and, as part of our portfolio, we will specialise in vintage and shabby chic goods and clothing. We’ll also be selling the high-quality ceramics, woodcrafts and glassware made by our clients.”

Details of the Charity Shop Development Co-ordinator role can be found at www.linkage.org.uk/working-at-linkage.

Linkage already operates commercial premises, with three cafes in Mablethorpe, Louth and Manby near Louth. These are staffed by students and clients, guided by full-time managers.

Anyone wanting to de-clutter their wardrobe this Spring and donate any pre-loved items no longer needed as potential stock for Linkage charity shops should call 01790 752499 or email info@linkage.org.uk.
