If so, VANEL have a couple of new ways in which you can get support:
“Tea and Trustees” drop-ins
and our new online Governance Forum
“Tea and Trustees”
Often it can be useful to talk through ideas, problems or issues that you encounter in your role with other people. And it can be very useful to talk them through with people who are not on your own board – just to be able to get another viewpoint or perspective.
One way of getting this sort of peer-support is “Tea and Trustees”, our monthly ‘drop-in’ at Grimsby Minster café. It’s a chance to chat through your ideas or issues with other trustees or committee members from VANEL or from other local non-profits.
Our next “Tea and Trustees” is FRIDAY 24th APRIL. Drop in any time between 9.30am and 11.30am to the Minster café. No need to book & no fee, but telling me you’re coming is polite (and helpful), and you can buy a drink from the café.

Governance Forum
If you can’t get to “Tea and Trustees”, we are now launching an online equivalent – our web based Governance Forum. It’s a space to ask questions, suggest ideas, get involved in discussions, learn about resources and information and so on.
The forum is at http://governance.atvanel.org.uk.
Anyone is free to browse the forums and discussions, but only Members or Friends of VANEL can add their own questions or join in the discussions. It’s a newly born website just this week, so there’s very limited content on there at the moment. But the more the merrier, so if you’d like to login and get discussing then just drop me an email (or phone 01472 361043) and I’ll register you with an account to login to the system (assuming you are connected with an organisation in VANEL membership).
( By the way – please tell all your trustees or committee members about these offers – don’t keep it to yourself! )
I look forward to seeing you or your board members on Friday or ‘meeting’ you online in the new Forum.
